Lottum is the rose village of the Netherlands. This bike route passes fields where millions of roses are grown each year. In June and July, the rose fields are in bloom.

The Asparagus Route (40 km)

This Asparagus Route is best cycled during the asparagus season from April through June. The bike route passes asparagus fields and asparagus farms where you can buy daily fresh asparagus. In Grubbenvorst, Tienray and Horst there are also many cozy terraces where you can stop for a snack and/or drink.

Hiking

We recommend exploring Meerlo on foot first. On the right is a route of about 10 km, on mostly unpaved roads. Starting point is at ’t Kasteelke, after which you walk through the forest area Hooge Heide, the Maaspark Ooijen-Wanssum and through the hamlet of Megelsum. After the walk, you can have a drink at café Oud Meerlo.
